PostSubject: [WIP] Classic Car....   Sat Sep 13, 2008 4:58 pm

This is a work in progress - has been for the past month. I've been trying to model a general classic car from the 30's in LEGO realistically...What's got me hung up is the back. Comments and criticism are greatly welcomed.

Also, don't mind the random colors - I'll have it fixed for the final model. About 3/4ths of my LEGO collection is stored away right now, so I have to work with what I had out!

Anyway, here's pics:

You can go along from there. What's really bothering me is the back wheel wells - I love their shape, but they're 1 stud wide, meaning the back axle is short. I really don't want to make it a 9-wide.

I have to go, but I'll be back later. There's some different options on the car that I modeled - Look for the differences on the front with tiles/cheese slopes.

Thanks!

I said tiles in the back; and I left a few notes on the flickr page(s). That 1x4 tile on top of the engine seems to be out of place, but I think you hit that back part on the money Tim pirat

Only thing is that the 1x4 tile is keeping the whole front grill/bumper in place. P:

Is there any other way to support it? Maybe from underneath?

Nope, the axle is too low for it to be supported underneath. The bottom of the front it at the same level with the axle, so i would need tiles to bypass the axle, which won't work. I personally think it looks cool...

Any other suggestions/comments? Jeez this place is slow! P:

Do you know Gambort? (Tim Gould) He has some classic cars that would be worth the look; he uses those L-shaped tile panels for wheel wells. Not sure how he attaches them, but since they're thinner than even a tile, it leaves plenty room for the wheels.

I really can't give my thoughts until you've replaced the parts with the right colors.... I guess I'm just kind of OCD about it, but tt's really throwing me off. scratch

Eh, not really my thing so I really can't offer any advice.
And SV, what L shaped tile things?
