It's not that it wasn't used in WWII, but that it ceased to be the official standard infantry rifle(what was asked), as it was replaced by the Garand. The site you linked to clearly says that too.

E2's had a longer barrel and forward assist, could use a grenade launcher, and chambers were chrome plated?

And I'd say fire selector switches are different type/style of switch than originals. Blank firing repop, perhaps? Or a modified/rebuilt original.

Yup, the fire selector switches seem to be from an M1928/A1; as to the XM177 Question; both seem to have forward assists, and a neat little fact I found out is that neither of them had bayonet lugs. You're up Smile

You swing the trigger guard down, then you pull the trigger group out of the action, then pull the action out of the stock.
